The Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) was signed by former Governor David Paterson in 2010 and became effective on July 1, 2012.  DASA was enacted to attempt to provide a school environment free of discrimination, harassment and bullying.  One component of the act requires that incidences be reported however many schools across the state have failed to properly implement the act or have reported absolutely zero incidences of bullying according to a new audit from the Office of the State Comptroller. State Police report Arrest of Off-duty Member after Domestic Incident

The New York State Police at Haverstraw have arrested Paul Catrona, 35, of Garnerville, NY, for Assault 3rd, following a domestic incident. On February 8, 2015, a female victim appeared at SP Haverstraw with visible facial injuries following a dispute with Catrona. It is alleged that Catrona, an off-duty member of the New York State Police, struck the victim, causing her injuries. Inside Job: Three North Rockland Women Nabbed with $4,000 in Stolen Merchandise

On December 13, 2014 at approximately 8:10 PM the Clarkstown Police Department responded to Macy’s located at the Palisades Mall for a report of shoplifting.  The suspects, Latoya Brown, 23 and Haillee Jones, 19, both of Haverstraw, NY and Ashley Hernandez, 20, of Stony Point, NY were reportedly observed by loss prevention employees taking merchandise valued at $4,101.42. The merchandise consisted of clothing and accessories. Jones, a Macy’s employee, allowed Brown and Hernandez to bypass the cash register without paying for the merchandise by creating a transaction and then cancelling it.
