Clarkstown Police Department Responded To A Report Of A Burglary At Chili’s Restaurant

On June 20, 2014 at 1240 PM, the Clarkstown Police Department responded to a report of a burglary at Chili’s Restaurant in Nanuet. An employee stated that he observed a man in the corner of a storage closet located in the rear of the restaurant. When the suspect saw the employee, he ran from the closet, knocking the employee to the ground, causing a minor injury to the employee. The male employee, 29, of New City, didn’t require medical attention for his injury. The suspect was followed by other employees and was apprehended by responding units just a short distance away from the restaurant. The suspect, John Allen, 50, of Spring Valley was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Allen was in possession of a glass pipe containing crack cocaine residue when he was searched. He was charged with Burglary 2nd (felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th (misdemeanor). Allen was arraigned on June 21, 2014 in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $5000 and he was transported to Rockland County Jail. He will return to court on June 25, 2014 at 1:30 PM.
