Rockland County Legislator Aney Paul honored seven retired nurses in recognition of National Nurses’ Week during a ceremony held prior to the Tuesday evening meeting of the County Legislature.

Legislator Paul presented Nellie Berg, Nancy Delaney Nawoichyk, Idette Earl, Claude-Michelle Paraison, Mary Mathew, Padmavathy Nair and Mathai Das with Certificates of Appreciation in recognition of the work they continue to do in the health field.

“National Nurses Week brings attention to the important role of nurses,” said Legislator Paul.  “I am proud to bring attention to these courageous women who have retired, yet are still wearing many hats to serve the community.”   Paul, a Registered Nurse with several nursing degrees including a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Masters in Public Health, added, “We are fortunate that these dedicated nursing professionals generously set aside their well-earned leisure time to remain committed to the profession and to bring awareness to matters of health and wellness.”
