Haverstraw, NY 11/11/2013  –  The North Rockland Business Alliance would like to invite the local public to the following two upcoming public events that are slated for the month of November 2013.

1. Champlain Hudson Power Express Public Hearing on 11/18: On November 18th 2013, SPACE (Stony Point Action Committee for the environment) will be participating in a public hearing to gather comments on the proposed Champlain Hudson Power Express Route that has been slated to run through Stony Point and Haverstraw NY.

The proposed route is a center-point of controversy, as some groups have stated that eminent domain will be used to clear the target area. The meeting will allow the public to gather comments to be sent to representatives of the US Department of Energy.

2. Hurricane Community Revitalization Meeting on 11/20: The Town of Stony Point is hosting four public meetings to gather input on how to rebuild Stony Point post Hurricane Sandy / Irene, and develop a Long Term Community Recovery Strategy. The second public meeting will be held onWednesday, November 20, 2013 from 7 to 9 PM in the RHO Building at 5 Clubhouse Lane. By attending, participants can learn more about the program and the recently completed Conceptual Plan—and help to provide input on potential projects within the Town and beyond.
