Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe today announced that Dwayne Cook (DOB 12/9/61) of 149 Main Street, Nanuet, New York has been charged with one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and two counts of Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree. All of the charges are class “D” felonies.
Cook, a glazier, doing business under the business names Bardonia Glass, Cook’s Glass, Cook’s Glass and Mirror, and Nanuet Glass is alleged to have accepted down payments totaling over $9800.00 to provide and install windows from numerous homeowners between October 2012 and August 2013. According to the charges, the defendant accepted deposits ranging from $250.00 to $1265.00. Cook failed to provide windows for any of the victims.
The arrest of the defendant resulted from an investigation conducted by the Rockland County Special Investigations Unit and the Rockland County Department of Consumer Protection.
Cook was arraigned in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court before the Honorable Howard Gerber on February 7, 2014 and was released on his own recognizance. He is due to return to court on March 3, 2014.
If convicted, the defendant faces up to 7 years in prison.
